This summer, Levi’s® Skateboarding and Poetic Collective have teamed up to bring you 'On Land'. Shot entirely in Stockholm this spring, the clip represents the start of the long-anticipated skate season after a long Swedish winter - the sun is finally out and the skies are clearing. However, traces of winter still linger - gravel that’s spread during winter months can still be seen in heaps around the city. The result is a snapshot of the arrival of spring and what it’s like to skate around the Swedish city surrounded by water. The clip features a full Swedish crew geared up in the Levi’s® Skateboarding collection including; Simon Källkvist, Johan Bergljung, Samuel Norgren, Nils Lilja, Peter Johansson, Klas Andersson, and Tom Botwid, enjoy!

Levi´s Spot Recovery
Levi’s® Skateboarding es consciente de la necesidad que tienen las comunidades skaters locales de espacios adecuados para la práctica del skateboarding, por eso, ha creado el LEVI’S® SPOT RECOVERY PROJECT. Esta iniciativa, nace para ayudar a las comunidades locales para que dispongan de lugares apropiados para practicar. En muchas ciudades, encontramos spots especiales donde los skaters se reúnen habitualmente, pero debido al desgaste que sufre la ciudad se han ido deteriorando con el paso del tiempo.
Spot Recovery Pack
El LEVI’S® SPOT RECOVERY PROJECT ha implicado a cinco tiendas seleccionadas de distintas ciudades de España. Cada una de ellas, ha recibido el Levi's® Spot Recovery Pack, que incluye todo lo necesario para recuperar algún spot de la ciudad y volver a hacerlo patinable. Entre el contenido del pack, podemos encontrar herramientas y materiales necesarios para reparar los spots, así como prendas de la colección Levi’s® Skateboarding otoño-invierno 2017.
Colección Levi´s Skateboarding
Las tiendas participantes en este reto son BD Skateshop (Zamora), One Foot (Avilés), Amigos (Barcelona), LaPlaza (San Sebastián) y Welcome (Madrid). Cada una de ellas ha elegido un lugar representativo de sus ciudades y han trabajado para recuperar el spot en favor de la comunidad local.
LEVI’S® SPOT RECOVERY PROJECT se ha puesto en marcha en forma de concurso entre las cinco tiendas participantes. Cada una de ellas recibió un Levi's® Spot Recovery Pack y se pusieron manos a la obra para recuperar su lugar favorito de la ciudad. Cada tienda además ha grabado un video donde explica su proyecto de recuperación de cada spot. Los videos de todo el proceso pueden verse ya en spot-recovery.com.
El concurso tiene como objetivo la elección del proyecto ganador. La selección se realizará a través de una votación, que correrá a cargo de un jurado y de las propias tiendas, que podrán votar entre ellas a la mejor idea. Además los fans y visitantes que accedan al sitio web del proyecto spot-recovery.com podrán votar a su candidatura favorita. Después, se conocerá cuál de los cinco proyectos es el ganador, que recibirá un premio de 500€ en metálico, y un pack de producto de Levis® Skateboarding. ¡Anímate a votar a tu proyecto favorito en spot-recovery.com!

Levi’s® Skateboarding proudly presents: ‘The Byrrrh & Skate Project’, a local DIY skate build in an old factory close to Gare du Midi, Brussels, designed and constructed by Youssef Abaoud; a local skater from Dour, Belgium.
First started 3 years ago, following the closure of the infamous Roller Park in Anderlecht, Belgium, skateboarders were left with nowhere to go when the weather turned bleak. Trying to find an empty, sheltered spaced space without security guards was tough, and skateboarders were shunned everywhere they went. Because of this, Youssef started collecting scraps of wood, waste materials as well as old skate ramps and built a number of pop up DIY ramps in old abandoned buildings to enable him and his friends to skate during the winter months.
This was around the time that local skateboarders found themselves having to build places outside of the city so that they wouldn’t get caught by the local authorities. Not long after the Roller Park closed, some skateboarders built a DIY spot under a motorway with cement which was a cool idea but was hard to skate and even harder to get to if you didn’t drive. Throughout this time there were also lots of DIY attempts around the city where local skateboarders would assemble miniramps in their favourite spots but you had to know the right people, in the right space, at the right time to drop in.
One day whilst on a job in Laeken, Youssef came across an abandoned warehouse that he used to work in. It was empty, dry, lit-up, had smooth floors and was vacant until further notice. Over a number of weeks, Youssef and his friends set up some ramps and as word started to spread, more and more people were eager to visit and lend a helping hand. This was the start of The Byrrrh: a name that was founded from a sign that hung over the doorway of the warehouse; a popular French aperitif.
The Byrrrh was a space open to all and all that was asked for in return was a couple of euros to keep the ramps in shape and the fridge stocked. For two winters The Byrrrh was going strong until the property had a change in ownership and everyone had to vacant the premises.
The second phase of The Byrrrh took place further afield in Evere; a quiet suburb more commonly known by the skaters as a place to skate marble forecourts and curbs of local businesses on weekends. Here, Youssef and his friends came across an old, expansive television studio where there was space to build bigger and better obstacles like a corner quarterpipe. The old fridge found a new home in one of the small rooms where a bar was set up to serve food and drink to all who visited. One of the small adjoining rooms was also used as an art studio where old boards were used as a blank canvas and exhibited within the space. Everything seemed to be falling into place nicely until unfortunately the building was needed once again and so everyone packed up and moved out.
Since then, Youssef and his friends set out on a mission to create a permeant community based indoor skate park where all skaters from Brussels and beyond could visit throughout the year. Made up of donated wood, confiscated skate obstacles, recycled waste and concrete, the 945m2 park underneath the railway arches is an open space otherwise known as a ‘Byrrrh’, that offers itself to all skaters: any age, any level, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
On Saturday 6th May, Levi’s® Skateboarding supported the launch of The Byrrrh & Skate Project by hosting The Byrrrh Jam: an event that officially opened the park to locals and skateboarders from across Europe. Throughout the day, Levi’s® skateboarding holded a number of small events and activities including; an under 18 skate competition, live music by La Jungle, a photography exhibition about Youssef’s work to date and The Byrrrh story and a 18+ cash prize skate competition as well as food, drink and good times!

El 22 de Febrero de 2011, un terremoto de magnitud 6.3 y numerosas réplicas azotaron el centro de la ciudad de Christchurch, Nueva Zelanda. 185 personas perdieron la vida y miles fueron desplazados, cambiando sus vidas para siempre. Inspirados por las iniciativas que tomó Levi’s® Skateboarding construyendo skateparks por todo el mundo, varios miembros de la comunidad skater de Christchurch acudieron a Levi’s® en busca de apoyo para reactivar la comunidad skater en su ciudad.
El equipo de Levi’s® rápidamente acudió a su ayuda, reclutando un equipo de embajadores ansiosos de ayudar, Josh Matthews, Joey Pepper, Al Partanen, Marius Syvänen, Pat Moran y Dan Plunkett. Un elenco de maestros del patín que se involucró al 100% en este proyecto para ayudar a la comunidad skater de Christchurch.
Con las maletas hechas, esta maravillosa crew partió rumbo a Nueva Zelanda, donde trabajaron codo a codo con los habitantes de Christchurch haciendo posible esta significativa reconstrucción. En menos de 48 horas, en Diciembre del 2015, encontraron el sitio perfecto donde, con la colaboración de todos, un montón de escombros se convertirían en un maravilloso y apreciadísimo skatepark.
Con éste, ya son seis los skateparks construidos por todo el mundo bajo el equipo y los embajadores de Levi’s®. Bangalore, India, La Paz, Bolivia, Oakland, California, Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota y Johannesburg, South Africa han sido los lugares elegidos para crear estos proyectos de la mano de Levi’s® Skateboarding.
Nice project by Levis Skateboarding as they went to DIY build project in Christchurch, New Zealand. The goal was to help the locals build out more skate spots following the devastating earthquake of 2011, awesome!
