Carhartt WIP Skateboarding | Galleria Continua - Concrete Cathedral

Carhartt WIP Skateboarding | Galleria Continua - Concrete Cathedral

Carhartt WIP Skateboarding has collaborated with renowned international art institution Galleria Continua. The project is centered around a new, experimental skate space at the gallery’s location in Boissy-le-Châtel, an hour east of the French capital. The snake run was created by MBL architects and Bureau D. Apheceix, using a series of free-form, artisanal techniques that allows the structure to blend in with its surrounding landscape. Over several visits, the run was skated by the Carhartt WIP skate team, who offered their own, unique interpretations of this concrete structure. Resulting here a series of images captured by Maxime Verret also featured in our large-scale free publication CONCRETE CATHEDRAL (available in Carhartt WIP Stores) and also a short film by Romain Batard, online now.

Featuring the Carhartt WIP Skateboard team: Felipe Bartolomé, Joseph Biais, Igor Fardin, Denis Lynn, Maité Steenhoudt, Rémy Taveira, Pietro Tirelli, Sylvain Tognelli & Armand Vaucher

Carhartt WIP | Hringur

Carhartt WIP | Hringur

Hringur is a short video about the hunt for skate spots in rural Iceland. A 10 day journey over 1,300 kilometres, following the ring road through mountains, volcanoes, glaciers, fjords and waterfalls as it circles the near deserted landscape. Without any local guide and with very few built up areas outside of the capital, the trip relied on prior research using online maps to identify potential skate spots, often in the wilderness.

Featuring: Felipe Bartolomé, Phil Zwijsen, Ollie Lock and Zach Riley

Paccbet x Carhartt WIP

Paccbet x Carhartt WIP

Russian skatebrand PACCBET has teamed up with Carhartt WIP to create a 12 piece capsule collection, in which it has reworked a selection of the brand’s icon- ic workwear-inspired styles. Informed by the aesthetic of late ‘80s and early ‘90s skateboarding, as well as the oversized, boxy fits of Carhartt WIP’s earliest designs, the collection celebrates loose silhouettes, hard- wearing simplicity and imposing graphics.

Starring : Felipe Bartolomé, Sasha Groshevoy, Jacob Sundell, Rémy Taveira, Tolia Titaev

In 1968 Gibellina, a small town nestled in the Belice valley of western Sicily, was destroyed by an earthquake. Today, it remains silent. Some 11 kilometres from where this town once stood, you will find its replacement, Gibellina Nuova. Designed by some of Italy’s most prominent artists and architects of the time, it is a town unlike any other in the region, resembling more of an open-air museum than a place where people work and live. But in many ways, it is representative of the region itself, a place that prides itself on being different and where people consider themselves Sicilian first, Italian second

It is here that provides the setting for Azzurro, a film featuring Sicilian-born Carhartt WIP skater Mauro Caruso. The project was first initiated by Mauro in 2010 only to then suffer a series of setbacks that he came to refer to as “the curse of Gibellina.” It was finally completed in March of this year. Shot by Ludo Azémar in a style that evokes the aesthetic of neorealism, Italy’s golden era of cinema, Azzurro effortlessly blends skateboarding, architecture and art.
