The 2018 Harold Hunter Weekend will take place at multiple locations across New York City kicking off with a book release party of Patrik Wallner’s The Eurasia Project. Sponsored in partnership with adidas, the photobook chronicles the travels of Wallner and his companions under the name Visualtraveling, exploring 101 countries across Europe and Asia throughout the last decade.

Now in its twelfth year, the Harold Hunter weekend festivities celebrates everything Harold from skateboarding, art, music, friends, family, and The Big City with this year’s events paying homage to the rising force of women within the skate community. Special to this year’s women empowerment theme, HHF is working closely with Arianna Gil, member of HHF and Founder of Brujas, the all-girls skate collective of New York.

Celebrating unity through skateboarding, adidas Skateboarding and HHF will host a special All Gender Skate Jam at Performance Space New York. Industrial designer Jonathan Olivares recreates the city’s iconic skate spot, 12th & A with skateable installations comprised of pink concrete ledges and extended bleacher. Inspired by the original inner-city New York skate park that gained global recognition for its customizable obstacles and ledges, the city of New York can experience the glory days of 12th & A once again for the special one-day event.

Along with the All Gender Skate Jam, adidas and HHF also present additional activities around the city including a panel discussion and more.

adidas Skateboarding and the Brooklyn Creator Farm, teamed up with Mark Gonzales, to celebrate soccer heritage with the Skate Copa Collection. Lo que iba a ser todo un día de patín, desde por la mañana en La Bóbila DIY (Badalona) hasta la tarde en Macba, tuvo que ser modificado por la lluvia. Aun así, las condiciones meteorológicas no impidieron probar y sentir sobre la tabla el feeling de las nuevas 3ST.001 y 3ST.002 a todos los riders e invitados tanto por la marca como por el partner Rufus Skateshop, una de las tiendas más relevantes de skateboarding tanto en la ciudad condal como en todo el panorama internacional, donde tuvo lugar el seeding de 3ST.

adidas Skateboarding teams up with their own Mark “Gonz” Gonzales and his brainchild, Krooked Skateboards for the second installment of the adidas x Krooked collaboration. The latest footwear and apparel collection pays homage to Gonz’s iconic art and modernizes the classic 1988 “Gonz and Roses” board graphic to bridge multiple generations of skateboarding.

Designed from the ground up with Krooked Skateboards, the collection is tied together by a timeless white and canary blue color palette, applied to an equally classic silhouette, the Superstar Vulc. The Superstar Vulc x Krooked shoe features a leather upper, reinforced with a shell toe, that rests atop a vulcanized outsole for precise board feel. The collection continues with a full apparel line featuring a track jacket, vintage tear-away track pants, a lightweight jersey, a sweat-wicking Climalite® t-shirt, a long-sleeve shirt, and a reversible bucket hat. Throughout the collection, Gonz’s iconic, original artwork provides a unique aesthetic to the heritage-inspired silhouettes.

The adidas Skateboarding x Krooked footwear and apparel collection will be available at specialty adidas retailers worldwide and the adidas Skateboarding website starting April 21. The launch of the collection will also be accompanied by a video featuring Gonz and friends skating his custom designed obstacles in New York City, which will release on April 21.

adidas Skateboarding Das Days | 3ST Interactive Launch

adidas Skateboarding kicked off the first night of its 10-day, Das Days activation with an interactive launch of its all-new 3ST footwear line. Hundreds gathered at the Das Days Community Center, located at the iconic Seventh Letter Gallery in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, to create concept footwear prototypes and custom shoe designs provided by the brand’s mobile MakerLab workshop.

Present throughout the event were adidas Skateboarding athletes Nora Vasconcellos, Na-kel Smith, Lucas Puig, Marc Johnson, Alec Majerus, and Felipe Gustavo.

Das Days continues through Sunday, April 14. Highlights include the Das Days Block Party featuring Chief Keef, Showcase X art exhibition curated by renowned street artist Shepard Fairey, and the City Copa skate contests in partnership with local skate retailers Kingswell and Brooklyn Projects. adidas Skateboarding introduces the new 3ST family of footwear. The inaugural product of the brand’s new open source workshop design approach, 3ST is the brainchild of top designers and athletes coming together to disrupt and re-define skate shoes, and create the future of adidas Skateboarding.

adidas 3ST.002

adidas designers worked closely with Na-kel Smith and other professional skateboarders on the development of the 3ST.001 and 3ST.002, two forward-thinking, vulcanized silhouettes that seamlessly blend style and function. Alongside skateboarder input, the design process was also driven by enhanced aesthetics, premium materials, and new design lines.

“3ST is a perfect example of what can be achieved with open dialogue, open minds, and true collaboration between a team of artists in their respective crafts—a bold creation that reimagines the vulcanized shoe in the skateboarding industry,” said Scott Johnston, adidas Skateboarding Senior Footwear Designer. “The best part of the workshop process was involving our skateboarders so early on in the design process to ensure the products’ authenticity to the team and skateboarding.”

The TORSION® system featured on both 3ST models provides arch support in the midfoot, allowing for easy adaptation of quick movements to enhance response and stability. This proprietary technology is paired with a modern vulc construction and a Geoflex outsole tread, delivering unparalleled grip and flexibility for optimal boardfeel and control.

The 3ST.001 features a breathable knit sock upper reinforced by both suede and complemented by adiTuff technology at the forefoot—strategically placed to protect critical, high abrasion areas where needed to prolong the life of the shoe. Elevated, inset laces ensure minimal breakage, while a semi-translucent outsole showcases the dual-density TORSION® inside.

Fashioned in a minimalist build, Smith provides his creative input to assist in re-imagining the slip-on with the sleek 3ST.002, a mid-top silhouette, innovative in design and function. The unexpected silhouette features a one-piece perforated suede upper, lined with breathable mesh on the interior, and equipped with a TPU cage for lateral stability. The all-new vulc outsole provides optimal board support and rounds out the performance features for the 3ST.002.

adidas Skateboarding announces Das Days, a large-scale event series taking over multiple cities across the globe in 2018 including Los Angeles, New York City, Paris, and Shanghai. Das Days celebrates each city with a range of events that elevate and unify the local skate community and beyond. 

Das Days will kickoff in Los Angeles with 10 days filled with interactive events and immersive activities such as product launches, video premieres, workshops, art exhibitions, panel discussions, and more. The renowned Seventh Letter Gallery in Los Angeles’ iconic Fairfax District will serve as the Das Days “Community Center” – the main hub where the events and activities will take place in and around. 

A block party with musical performances by Chief Keef and some of the city’s best emerging talent, Showcase X art exhibition curated by renowned street artist Shepard Fairey, and City Copa skate events curated by local LA shops Kingswell and Brooklyn Projects will also take place in surrounding neighborhoods.
