Jake Wooten | Skates An Abandoned Airport

Now boarding, Jake Wooten in New Orleans, with the keys to an empty airport and a terminal full of dream features to skate. The baggage claims and escalators and VIP lounges are all fair game, without a single security guard in site. No lines, no crowds, no TSA — Jake had the entire airport to himself and a custom park build that looks like it's straight out of a video game.

Philly Skate Scene | GREETINGS FROM PHILADELPHIA

Philly Skate Scene | GREETINGS FROM PHILADELPHIA

Skating in Philadelphia is hard. Rugged terrain, uneven sidewalks, and every weather condition imaginable is hurled at skaters whose goal is to thrash the City of Brotherly Love. “The streets are rough. The spots are rough. There’s a lot you’ve got to battle,” says Kerry Getz, owner of iconic Philly skate shop, Nocturnal. But adversity breeds creativity and that’s the message “Greetings From Philadelphia” communicates loud and clear.

2020 Red Bull BOWL RIPPERS | Highlights

Buckle up for a unique edition of Red Bull Bowl Rippers 2020 from Marseille. A stripped-back showdown promised to produce some much-needed skate action from the south of France this past weekend on October 3-4. The city's very own son, Jean Pantaleo, beat all comers over the weekend to become the new champion of Red Bull Bowl Rippers, edging out previous winner Jaime Mateu by a single point.

In contention to put their stamp on the fabled Bowl Du Prado during this special edition of Red Bull annual seaside showdown was a 60-strong field of European shrednauts, including Elson Patrick, Danny León, Dannie Carlsen, Jean Pantaleo, Marcel Wintherlig, Anthony Mardelle, Stellio Sakellarides, Simon Léauté, Ivan Federico, Bjorn Lillesoe, Karl Berglind, Vincent Milou and Jaime Mateu. With the weekend split into a Saturday contest and a Sunday Best Trick jam, Pantaleo doubled down on his contest victory by making an enormous transfer line into one of the bowls, a feat which had previously cost him not one, but two, broken heels.

Red Bull Bowl Rippers 2020 results:

  • Jean Pantaleo

  • Jaime Mateu

  • Karl Berglind

  • Danny León

  • Ivan Federico

Madars Apse | The Story Of Ethiopia's New Skate Scene

Madars Apse | The Story Of Ethiopia's New Skate Scene

For episode four of Skate Tales, Madars Apse hightails it to Ethiopia to meet the skate crew building a scene from scratch in one of the world’s oldest countries. The story of Ethiopia Skate is as real as it gets: from a parking lot in Addis Ababa, Henok Yetbarek, Michael Baheru, Ruel Desta, Babure ‘Babu G’ Teferi, Yeabkal Abraham and Yared Gobezie started a skate movement which would snowball with the help of two American skaters, JT Rhoades and Sean Stromsoe. Within 3 years they would link up with Make Life Skate Life to build Ethiopia’s first free skatepark in the capital, and a year later they would double down on their success by building a second in Awassa. Nowadays Ethiopia Skate has 150 skaters enlisted from around the country, and has registered as a non- profit in the USA meaning they can accept tax- deductible donations to keep their skatehouse open, build more terrain and, as Sean tells Madars ‘create more opportunity through skateboarding’. Madars came by to build and inspire, listen and learn in a beautiful one from the Skate Tales storybook.

RED BULL SKATEBOARDING | IN SOFIA, BULGARIA

RED BULL SKATEBOARDING | IN SOFIA, BULGARIA

Sofia has a magic to it as a city. It doesn't have endless spots, but it's a city so old that they can't dig down in it without finding yet another civilization. The winters are just brutal, but the opening of 5-High Skatepark on the fifth floor of a funky converted industrial unit means the locals can skate all year round for the first time.

Watch Redbull zip around the skate scene of one of Europe’s last great undiscovered cities to experience what Sofia has to offer.
